Savenello Terms of Service
Preview version. Savenello is in early testing. These terms may change before general release, and we will notify users of material changes.
Effective date: October 8, 2026
Last updated: October 8, 2026
1. Who we are and what these Terms cover
1.1. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Savenello ("Savenello", "we", "us" or "our"), the operator of the Savenello website (the "Service"), available at https://savenello.com.
1.2. The Service is a personal finance website that helps a household see its money in one place. It lets you connect checking, savings and credit card accounts (read-only) through our bank data provider, Plaid, review and approve transactions, sort spending into categories, set a monthly spending plan with budgeted amounts, track savings goals, enter manual assets to see a net worth figure, run reports and export your data as CSV files.
1.3. By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy at https://savenello.com/privacy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
2.1. You may use the Service only if you are at least 18 years old, are a resident of the United States, can form a binding contract, and are not barred from using the Service under applicable law.
2.2. The Service is for personal and household use only. It is not designed for business accounting, and you may not use it to manage a business's finances or to provide services to others for a fee.
2.3. The Service is not directed to children. People under 18 may not create an account, be added to a household, or use the Service.
3. Your account and signing in
3.1. No passwords. You sign in with a single-use link sent to your email address (a "magic link") plus a second factor. The first second factor offered is a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Codes sent by text message may be offered later. You will also receive one-time recovery codes for use if you lose access to your second factor.
3.2. Accurate information. You agree to give us accurate information, including a working email address that only you control, and to keep it up to date.
3.3. One person per login. Each login belongs to one person. Do not share your login, your email inbox access, your authenticator app or your recovery codes with anyone, including other members of your household. Other household members should have their own logins when that feature is available.
3.4. Your security duties. You are responsible for:
- keeping your email account secure, because anyone who controls your email inbox can request a sign-in link;
- protecting the device that holds your authenticator app, and storing your recovery codes somewhere safe and private;
- signing out on shared or public computers, and using the Sessions page to sign out devices you no longer use or do not recognize;
- keeping your devices, browsers and operating systems reasonably up to date;
- telling us promptly at support@savenello.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account, your email, your authenticator app or your recovery codes; and
- all activity under your login that results from your failure to meet these duties.
3.5. Lost second factor. If you lose both your second factor and your recovery codes, contact support@savenello.com. We will verify your identity outside the Service before restoring access. For your protection, there is a waiting period of at least 48 hours, we send a notice to the email address on your account before your second factor is reset, and the reset is recorded in your household's activity log. We may decline to restore access if we cannot verify you.
4. Households, owners and members
4.1. What a household is. A household is a shared account in the Service. When you sign up, a household is created and you become its owner. Everything you add or connect (linked accounts, transactions, categories, budgets, goals, assets, notes and reports) belongs to the household.
4.2. Owner. Each household has one owner, who controls the household. The owner can connect and remove bank connections, manage household settings, export the household's data, manage billing (once paid plans begin) and delete the household. To transfer ownership to another adult member, the owner can contact support@savenello.com.
4.3. Members. We plan to let owners invite other adults to a household, either as a member with full access (who can review, approve and edit) or as a view-only member. If and when this is available:
- the owner decides who to invite and can remove members at any time;
- every member can see all of the household's data, including balances and transactions from accounts linked by other members;
- changes a member makes are recorded in the household's activity log under that member's name;
- only the owner can export or delete the household's data; and
- if a member leaves or is removed, the data they added stays with the household. Their own login and personal account details (such as name, email and second factor settings) are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
4.4. Who controls the data. As between household members, the owner controls the household's data, including whether it is exported or deleted. Each person controls their own login and personal account details. Before you link an account or add information to a household, make sure you are comfortable with every current and future member of that household seeing it.
4.5. Disputes inside a household. We are not responsible for resolving disagreements between household members (for example after a separation or divorce) about access to the household or its data. We will generally follow the instructions of the owner unless the law requires otherwise.
5. Linking your bank and card accounts through Plaid
5.1. How linking works. We use Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to connect the Service to your financial institutions. When you link an account, you sign in to your financial institution through Plaid's own window (Plaid Link). We never see or store your bank username or password.
5.2. Your authorization. By linking an account, you:
- confirm that you are the account holder or are otherwise authorized to access the account and to share its data with us and with the members of your household;
- authorize us and Plaid to access and retrieve, on your behalf, information from your financial institution about the accounts you choose to link, including account names and types, balances and transaction history, and to keep retrieving updates until you remove the connection; and
- authorize us to store and use that information to provide the Service as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
5.3. Read-only. The Service only reads account information. It does not move money, make payments, transfer funds or change anything at your financial institution. We do not request or store full account numbers or routing numbers.
5.4. Accounts we connect. The Service is designed to link checking, savings and credit card accounts. Investment and retirement accounts are not linked through Plaid. You may enter them by hand as manual assets if you wish.
5.5. Plaid's privacy policy. Plaid is a separate company. You acknowledge and agree that information collected by Plaid is handled under Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy, and that you grant Plaid the rights, power and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your information as described in that policy.
5.6. Removing a connection. You can remove a bank connection at any time in Settings. When you remove one, we stop retrieving new data from it and ask Plaid to end the connection. You can choose to keep or archive the history already imported. You can also manage connections you have made through Plaid using Plaid's own tools described in Plaid's privacy policy.
5.7. Third-party availability. Linking depends on Plaid and on your financial institution. Either of them may change, limit or stop access at any time, and some institutions require you to reconnect from time to time. We are not responsible for the acts, failures or availability of Plaid or any financial institution.
6. Not financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Not a bank.
6.1. The Service is a tool for organizing and viewing your own financial information. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, legal, credit or other professional advice, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any investment or to take any financial action.
6.2. Features such as suggested categories, remembered merchants, rules, suggested transfer matches, suggested budgeted amounts, savings rate, "left to spend", net worth and reports are calculations and suggestions based on the data available. You decide what to approve and how to act on it. Consult a qualified professional before making financial, tax or legal decisions.
6.3. We are not a bank, credit union, broker, investment adviser, money transmitter, tax preparer or credit reporting agency. We do not hold your money, accept deposits, make loans, move funds or offer any insured account. Your accounts remain with your financial institutions, and their terms govern those accounts.
7. Accuracy of data
7.1. Balances and transactions come from your financial institutions through Plaid, and other figures come from information you enter. This data may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, changed after the fact (for example when a pending charge posts for a different amount, or a transaction is corrected or removed by the institution) or simply wrong.
7.2. Balances are shown with the date they were last updated ("as of") and may not reflect your current available balance. Manual asset values, such as home equity, are only as accurate as what you enter.
7.3. We do not guarantee that any information in the Service is accurate, complete or current. Always rely on your financial institution's official statements and records. You are responsible for checking the information before relying on it, including for taxes or other filings.
8. Emails and notices
8.1. By creating an account, you agree that we may send you emails needed to run the Service, such as sign-in links, security and account notices, "reconnect needed" notices, billing notices and changes to these Terms.
8.2. The Service also sends a weekly recap email that can include a summary of your household's spending, budget progress, balances and items waiting for review. Email is less secure than the Service itself. You can change the recap's time or turn it off at any time in Settings.
8.3. If text message codes are offered and you choose them, message and data rates may apply. You agree to receive sign-in codes by text at the number you provide, and only sign-in and security messages will be sent to that number. You can switch back to an authenticator app at any time.
9. Subscription, billing, renewal and cancellation
9.1. Preview pricing. Savenello is free during the preview period. Paid plans will be announced with at least 30 days' notice before any charge. We will never charge you unless you choose a paid plan.
9.2. Free trial. There is no free trial during the preview period, because the Service is free while it lasts. Any future trial terms will be shown before you start one.
9.3. Payment. Once paid plans begin, payments will be processed by Stripe on its own hosted pages. We do not receive or store your full card number. By choosing a paid plan, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for the subscription fees and any applicable taxes.
9.4. Automatic renewal. Paid plans will be billed monthly or annually, as shown at checkout. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and your payment method will be charged at the start of each new period, until you cancel. We will show the price, billing period and renewal terms before you subscribe, and we will email you a reminder before an annual plan renews.
9.5. Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in Settings, Billing, in one step. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then.
9.6. Refunds. You can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of the period you paid for. We do not give refunds for partial periods, except where the law requires.
9.7. Price changes. We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
9.8. Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry the charge. If it is still unpaid 7 days after it was due, we may limit the household to read-only access or suspend it until payment is made. You can still export your data during that time.
9.9. Taxes. Any applicable taxes will be shown at checkout.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, or to store information you have no right to store;
- link or view any account you are not authorized to access, or invite anyone to a household who should not see its data;
- access or try to access another household's data, or anyone else's login;
- probe, scan or test the security of the Service, or bypass any security, rate limit or access control, without our written permission (if you find a security problem, please report it to support@savenello.com);
- use bots, scrapers or automated means to access the Service, except for features we provide (such as CSV export);
- interfere with or overload the Service, or send malicious code;
- copy, reverse engineer, resell, rent or sublicense the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
- impersonate anyone, or use the Service to send spam; or
- use the Service on behalf of anyone under 18.
11. Your data and our rights to use it
11.1. You own your data. As between you and us, your household owns the information you add to the Service and the account data retrieved for you ("Your Data").
11.2. Permission to operate the Service. You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, copy, process and display Your Data only as needed to provide, secure, back up, support and improve the Service, to comply with law, and as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell Your Data and do not use your bank data for advertising.
11.3. Your responsibility. You are responsible for the information you add, including notes and names, and for having the right to add it.
12. Our intellectual property
12.1. The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Savenello name and logos, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your household's personal use.
12.2. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
13. Changes to the Service
The Service is in preview, so we may add, change or remove features, including features described as planned. Once paid plans begin, we will give at least 30 days' notice of changes that materially reduce what your paid plan includes.
14. Suspension and termination
14.1. By you. You can stop using the Service at any time. The owner can cancel the subscription and delete the household as described in Section 15.
14.2. By us. We may suspend or end your access, or a household's access, if you materially or repeatedly break these Terms, if your account presents a security risk to you, other households or the Service, if payment is overdue, if required by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give notice first and a chance to export your data.
14.3. Discontinuing the Service. If we decide to shut down the Service, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can export your data, and will refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.
14.4. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 11.3, 12 and 16 through 23) survive.
15. Data export and deletion when you close an account
15.1. Export. The owner can export the household's data as CSV files at any time from Settings. We may ask you to confirm with your second factor first. If you cancel a subscription, you can still export your data for 30 days afterward.
15.2. Archiving in normal use. In normal use, records you remove (such as categories, merchants or bank connections) are archived rather than permanently deleted, and changes are recorded in the household's activity log, so that history and reports stay consistent.
15.3. Deleting a household. The owner can delete the whole household. This is a true deletion: we end the household's bank connections with Plaid and permanently delete the household's data from our live database within 30 days of a verified deletion request. Copies in our encrypted backups are deleted automatically as those backups expire, within 35 days. We may keep a minimal record that a household was deleted, when and by whom, with no financial data, and information we must keep by law (for example billing records). Details are in the Privacy Policy. Deletion cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.
15.4. After cancellation. If a subscription ends and is not renewed, the household stays available for export for 30 days. After that, we delete the household as described in Section 15.3, except for information the law requires us to keep.
16. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, THAT ANY DATA WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR CURRENT, OR THAT ANY BANK CONNECTION WILL KEEP WORKING. THE SERVICE IS IN PREVIEW AND MAY HAVE BUGS OR CHANGE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THESE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
17. Limitation of liability
17.1. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE AND OUR OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, SAVINGS, DATA OR GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY FINANCIAL DECISION, FEE, OVERDRAFT, PENALTY OR TAX CONSEQUENCE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.
17.2. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100.
17.3. These limits apply to any theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law.
18. Indemnity
To the extent allowed by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Savenello and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from any claims, losses, damages and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) brought by a third party and arising from your violation of these Terms or the law, your linking of any account you were not authorized to link, or information you add to the Service.
19. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including Plaid for bank connections, Cloudflare for hosting, data storage and backups, Resend for sign-in links and notices, Stripe for payments once paid plans begin, and an SMS provider when texted codes are offered. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Links to third-party sites are for convenience only.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the Service at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless a faster change is required by law or for security. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when the Terms last changed. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you may cancel and export your data before the change takes effect.
21. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules.
22. Dispute resolution and venue
22.1. Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@savenello.com and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days.
22.2. Courts. Any claim not resolved informally will be brought only in the state courts located in Walton County, Florida, or in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
23. General terms
23.1. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
23.2. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
23.3. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
23.4. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, formation of a company to operate the Service, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
23.5. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
23.6. Notices to you may be sent to the email address on your account. Notices to us must be sent to the contact details in Section 24.
